Food Safety Team Conducts Intensive Inspections in Srinagar, Issues Warnings and Fines

KINS
Srinagar, Feb 06: A rigorous inspection led by the Food Safety team, alongside Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety, Yameen ul Nabi, targeted manufacturing units in the Zakura and Hazrabal areas of Srinagar.
The focus was primarily on food business operators engaged in the production of ready-to-eat foods, bakery items, and spices.
During the inspection, authorities uncovered several violations, resulting in the issuance of seven compounded fines. Additionally, two operators were found operating in unsanitary conditions, and their cases will be presented before the competent court for further action.
Approximately 80 kgs of minced meat, transported under unhygienic conditions, were deemed unfit for consumption and subsequently destroyed. Food business operators were sternly warned to adhere strictly to the provisions outlined in the Food Safety and Standards Act. Failure to comply may result in severe consequences, including the closure of their facilities.
The crackdown on food safety violations is set to continue across Srinagar city in the coming days. Consumers have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious food items or establishments failing to meet safety standards by calling the toll-free number 104. Authorities emphasize the importance of public cooperation in ensuring food safety and standards are upheld within the community.
