Jammu,Jan 3, : Prof.Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of J&K National Panthers Party & Senior Advocate & Sr. Executive Member of Supreme Court Bar Association has made an urgent appeal to Shri Satya Pal Malik, Governor of J&K to convene an urgent meeting of representatives of all recognized political parties as well as the leaders of the Hurriyat Conference. NPP Supremo expressed surprise on the adjectives used for some Hurriyat Conference leaders describing them as ‘separatists’ and what not. NPP Supremo made a strong appeal to all the newspapers as well as media persons to stop attaching undesirable and unacceptable adjectives for the Hurriyat Conference leaders. He said that all the people who reside in J&K and are permanent residents of the State of J&K continue to be Indian citizens from the day one Constitution of India was promulgated on January 26, 1950.
All the permanent residents of J&K are citizens of India unless someone voluntarily quits India or chooses another nationality. He expressed deep shock that several newspapers have been using slang against the citizens of India (Hurriyat Conference leaders) just to please the state agencies and critics of the Hurriyat Conference. He said that the Constitution of India allows citizens of India to form/organize/constitute an association or a political group which works within the domain of the Constitution of India. Hurriyat Conference is politically recognized by the Central Govt. as well as local agencies as a political group which deserves to be treated in accordance with the rule of law and its’ leadership or its members cannot be treated as separatists. There is a separate law to deal with separatists in the Indian Penal Code. He appealed to all the media persons and even those who are opposed to Hurriyat Conference leaders to not to use such adjectives or slangs against others who are opposed to your ideas as long as they work in accordance with the law of the land.
Prof.Bhim Singh also appealed to the Governor of J&K to call an urgent meeting in Srinagar or Jammu or anywhere else of the representatives of all recognized parties and the leaders of the Hurriyat Conference so that a common platform is utilized to hear each other and work out a plan to achieve peace and democracy in the state.
