SMC employees strike enters 3rd day, Strike not in favor of anybody: Employees

Srinagar, Jan 3, : Srinagar Municipal Corporation employees Thursday clarified that their strike is not in favour of incumbent Mayor but against the mess created by the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and the Corporters inside the Corporation.

SMC employees including Ward Officers are on strike from past three days. The employees staged protest for the 3rd consecutive day in the premises of SMC. The strike of employees has created a mess in Srinagar city where heaps of garbage can be seen along roadside everywhere. From past three days, no garbage was lifted from the designated points due to ongoing strike.

Ward Officer Mehrajuddin Buja told news agency CNS that the tussle between the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor has created a lot of problems for the employees. “Let us clarify that this strike is not in favour of anybody but it is against the assault made by a Corporter on one of our employees,” he said.

He added that if Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Corporters won’t change their behavior, the employees won’t allow them to enter into Corporation office,” he added. (CNS)
