Ensure main roads, routes are kept clear of snow: Dr Farooq to admin

Srinagar, Jan 04 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Friday urged the governor administration to rise up to the exigencies that have risen after the recent snow fall in Kashmir.
Dr Farooq who represents the Srinagar parliamentary constituency impressed upon the administration to ensure people all basic and effective amenities during the winter months. “When it snows it is the priority of administration to ensure main arterials and routes are kept clear, to keep them safe for people. The administration was caught napping last year in November when unexpected snowfall resulted in massive dames to power and water supply.
“I urge various departments of the state to work in unison with each other and make it a point to ensure that people don’t have to suffer during harsh winters,” he said adding, “I urge the respective divisional commissioners of the state to activate their field staff and machinery to make sure that all the exigencies that have risen post snow fall are dealt with incisively,”
Dr. Farooq asserted that the administration ought to have comprehensive plan into its operational response during the winter months.
Meanwhile Dr Farooq Abdullah has expressed grief over the demise of Khursheed Ahmad Qureshi brother of district and sessions Judge Quasar Ahmad Qureshi. Dr Farooq also expressed grief over the demise of Muhammad Shafi Shawl of Basant Bagh, Gawkadal and Ghulam Ahmad Jan of Syed Hamid Pora.
Dr Farooq while expressing grief said, “I pray to almighty for the peace to the souls of departed and much need strength to the bereaved families to bear the loss.”
President North Zone Muhammad Akbar lone, District President Javaid Ahmad Dar, Ghulam Hassan Rahi, Neelofar Masood, Advocate Shahid Ali have also expressed sorrow over the demise of Khursheed Ahmad Qureshi.
Meanwhile party General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Dr Sheikh Mustufa Kamal, Nasir Aslam Wani, Mubarak Gul, Shammema Firdous have condoled the demise of Ghulam Ahmad Jan. (KNS)
