Srinagar, Jan 14, : Contractual employees working under the National Health Mission (NHM) scheme who are on a 48-hour strike in Jammu and Kashmir Monday staged a protest here demanding regularization of their services.
Hundreds of employees, including doctors, paramedical staff and technicians of the health department, who are working on contractual basis under the NHM, from different districts of Kashmir assembled at the Pratap Park in the commercial hub Lal Chowk here and started protesting.
Protesting employees shouted slogans against the state government and demanded their services be regularized.
The protesting employees raised slogans against the government’s non-fulfillment of promises made to the employees on January 22, 2018 by the then Minister for Health and Medical Education.
Work in different hospitals and health centres across the state was severely affected due to the strike of the employees.
Apart from formation of regularization policy, the employees were demanding immediate implementation of Supreme Court directions of equal pay for equal work on the analogy of SRO-384, benefit of 7th Pay Commission on Haryana pattern, full leave package, removal of pay disparity, full medical cover and according of EPF befefits for pending employees.
They warned the government of severe agitation if their demands were not met. (CNS)
