Protest against water shortage in Pattan

Pattan, Jan 14 :  Residents of Pattan village of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday hit the streets and staged protest demonstration against the non availablity of water for the last many days in the area.
Reports said that scores people including women of Chakijamal
area of Pattan on Monday blocked Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway at
Babatang to register their protest against water shortage in the area.
While raising slogans against PHE department for failed to provide them regular water supply in the area, protesting residents said alleged  Executive Enginer and SE for not being serious about the problems  facing by the residents.
The protesting residents threatened the department to go for bigger protest and department will be the responsible.
Meanwhile a team of police reached the spot and assured the protestors that matter will be taken to higher authorities.
When contacted officials at PHE department told Kashmir Indepth News that due to minus temperature water supply lines had been freezed, officials however added that our efforts are on to restore water supply at earliest.
