Storekeeper injured after assaulted in Bemina, CAPD association demands action against accused

 

Srinagar, Jan 19 : An official of Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CAPD), Kashmir was injured after assaulted by a local ration card holder at Bemina area of Srinagar city on Saturday.
Storekeeper, Bashir Ahmad Sofi, who was on duty and was distributing ration among ration card holders today in the morning. The official asked a local to get Adhar card which is necessary for PDS, the person attacked the official with a sharp-edged object and injuring him at his neck.
The injured official was immediately taken to JVC hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, CAPD Employees Association Kashmir condemned the incident and demanded authorities to take strict action the accused.
“Against the incident, the association has decided to stage a protest demonstration at CAPD head office, Shaheedgung Srinagar and a general council meeting will be convened on Jan 21 against the growing incidents of attacks on storekeepers,” President of the association Aijaz Khan said.
Khan appealed Director CAPD Kashmir to restore the rationing section restore. (GNS)
