Court freezes account of DFO Tangmarg for not paying electricity bills

Pattan, Feb 1, : Court of Special Mobile Electricity Magistrate Pattan Friday froze the official account of  Divisional Forest officer Tangmarg for not paying electricity charges up to the tune of Rs seven lakhs.

    Special Mobile Magistrate Electricity Pattan A S Langeh in a case filed by Electricity Department Tangmarg directed freezing of the account.

   While Passing order Court observed that despite providing enough time to clear the dues, the Department didn’t pay any heed. “It seems Forest Department has no intention to clear the bills,” the court said.

Court said that one department of State owes such a huge liability to another instrument of state is not only bemusing but also places respondent department in bad light having propensity of crippling impact on consumers who genuinely pay electricity charges in due time.      .

The Court directed seizure of treasury head account of respondent DFO Tangmarg till payment of arrears. (CNS)
