Srinagar, Apr 03: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V K Birdi, emphasized the need for preparedness among all Range DIsG and District SsP for the upcoming auspicious occasions and festivals celebrated by various communities. In a high-level meeting, IGP underscored the collective responsibility in safeguarding the populace during these festivities.
The approaching events, including Jumat-ul-Vida, Shab-l-Qadr, Navratra, Arfa day, Eid-ul-Fitr, Baisakhi & Ramanavami, hold significant cultural and religious importance in the region. IGP Kashmir emphasized the importance of readiness for the peaceful conduct of these events during a briefing session with participating officers.
V K Birdi stressed the need to enhance surveillance efforts to counter any activities threatening the region’s peace and stability. He instructed officers to implement robust security measures to thwart potential terror threats and ensure citizens’ safety during the festivities.
IGP Kashmir also emphasized intensified market inspections, particularly ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, to prevent malpractices and ensure the availability of essential commodities at government-approved rates and quality. Additionally, he directed senior officers to facilitate the public and ensure all necessary arrangements are in place.
The meeting also addressed comprehensive traffic and crowd management plans, with a focus on Jumat-ul-Vida, Shab-l-Qadr & Arfa day, to ease congestion on roads and identify suitable parking spots for the influx of vehicles. Furthermore, coordination with Auqaf committees was highlighted to ensure the peaceful conduct of Shab-l-Qadr night congregations and Eid-ul-Fitr prayers.
IGP Kashmir emphasized proactive measures and collaborative efforts from all stakeholders to maintain peace and harmony during these auspicious occasions. He reaffirmed the commitment to uphold law and order, providing a secure environment for citizens to celebrate without fear or disruption.
