J&K Bank bags top national honour for ‘Best CSR Overall Practices’
Our CSR programme is steadily evolving into a structured platform for inclusive and sustainable development: MD & CEO
Srinagar, Sep 12: Reaffirming the growing reach and measurable impact of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, J&K Bank was honoured with the ‘Best Corporate Social Responsibility Overall Practices’ award at the 13th National CSR Leadership Congress & Awards. The recognition acknowledges the Bank’s institution-wide commitment to sustainable social development through structured, need-based and impact-oriented interventions.
Zonal Head (Bengaluru) Shadab Mehboob received the award on behalf of the Bank at an impressive function held on Friday at Taj MG Road, Bengaluru. The ceremony was part of a day-long CSR conference featuring eminent experts and deliberations on emerging trends and contemporary issues shaping the CSR landscape in the country.
Expressing delight over the recognition, MD & CEO Amitava Chatterjee said, “For J&K Bank, CSR is not a peripheral obligation but an extension of our institutional purpose. This award validates our approach of taking meaningful, need-based interventions to underserved communities, particularly across J&K and Ladakh, while ensuring that every initiative creates measurable and lasting value.”
“Our CSR programme is steadily evolving into a structured platform for inclusive and sustainable development, with healthcare, education, livelihood generation, disability inclusion, environmental sustainability and grassroots sports at its core. Our interventions also cover rural development, women empowerment and gender equality, promotion of art and culture, and support for armed forces veterans and their dependents. Guided by strong governance and strategic partnerships, we shall continue to expand our reach and deepen our impact in alignment with national development priorities,” he added.
The recognition is a reflection of the Bank’s sustained commitment to creating meaningful and measurable social impact through a wide range of CSR initiatives. Its interventions span critical areas including healthcare, environmental sustainability, community welfare, skill development and livelihood generation.
In healthcare, the Bank has supported cardiac and breast-cancer screening programmes in underserved areas, enabling access to essential preventive healthcare for vulnerable communities. Its environmental initiatives, including solar-powered sanitation facilities, plantation drives and waste-management interventions, demonstrate a strong commitment to sustainable development.
The Bank has also undertaken community-focused initiatives such as providing affordable meals to attendants of patients at hospitals, while promoting skill development and livelihood opportunities to strengthen economic empowerment at the grassroots level.
Collectively, these initiatives underline the Bank’s philosophy of going beyond conventional philanthropy to create sustainable and inclusive value for communities, while contributing meaningfully to the social and environmental well-being of the region.
The National Awards for Excellence in CSR & Sustainability recognise organisations that have embedded social responsibility and sustainability into their institutional strategies and created demonstrable benefits for communities and the environment.
