Bandipora infant’s death: SHRC seeks report from Govt

A day after an infant died in a Bandipora hospital due to alleged medical negligence, state human rights commission (SHRC) on Thursday asked Health Department to submit a report in the incident.Taking suo-motto cognizance of the incident, the commission issued notice to director health services Kashmir and sought report from his office.

On Wednesday, protest was held at Bandipora District Hospital by a family that alleged that their infant died of medical negligence.
As per infant’s family, she was administered vaccine “by nurse in absence of doctors at the hospital”, and after leaving the hospital the infant died.
The deceased infant was identified as three-year-old Umaiya Muzaffar.
In a similar case of alleged medical negligence, last month a woman from frontier village of Kupwara was “forced” to deliver a baby in sub-zero temperature in Srinagar’s Bemina locality, after she was denied admission at LD maternity hospital.
Suraya, resident of a remote village, Kalaroos, was referred from district hospital to LD hospital. GKNN
