Pakistan calls back HC

NEW DELHI, Feb 18: Pakistan on Monday called back its high commissioner in India Sohail Mahmood “for consultations”, Dawn news reported.

“He left New Delhi this morning,” said Dr Mohammad Faisal, the spokesperson of Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a tweet.

Following the militant attack in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district last week, tensions between India and Pakistan are once again running high.

49 CRPF men were killed in the attack, which has been claimed by the Jaish-e-Mohammad.

India has alleged that those who planned the attacks had links with the Pakistani state — a charge that Pakistan has vigorously denied.

Shortly after the attack, the Pakistan Foreign Office had condemned the attack, saying that it was “a matter of grave concern”.
