Sunil Sharma accuses Abdullah family of seeking Statehood for greater powers, calls for longer Assembly Session
Srinagar, Sept 17 (KINS): Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Sunil Sharma on Thursday accused the Abdullah family of seeking restoration of statehood primarily to regain greater administrative powers, including those related to the Public Safety Act (PSA).
Speaking to reporters in Anantnag, Sharma also criticised Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for raising issues concerning Ladakh and urged him to focus on problems faced by people in Jammu and Kashmir.
On the upcoming Assembly session, Sharma said the BJP would raise public issues and demand accountability from the government. He argued that a six-day session was insufficient to discuss issues concerning electricity, water, roads, schools, daily wagers and NHM employees.
Sharma also criticised Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather, alleging that the short session limited opportunities for legislators to raise public concerns. He demanded a longer session with detailed discussions on issues affecting different constituencies.(KINS)
