Guns roar again on LoC in Rajouri, Poonch, soldier injured

Poonch / Rajouri March 5 : A soldier was injured after the armies of India and Pakistan on Tuesday exchanged heavy fire and shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

An official said the Pakistan army violated the ceasefire and initiated unprovoked firing and shelling in areas falling under Krishna Ghati sector around 6pm include Balnoie, Dabraj, Mankote, Dharana and Bassoni.

Many shells landed in these civilian population which created panic among the residents, the official said, adding that there was no immediate report of any injury.

He said the Pakistan army used small arms and mortars to target Indian locations.

Similarly, the Pakistani army targeted Indian army posts at Kalal- the forward area of Nowshera sector in Rajouri district resulting in injury to an army soldier namely Vaibav Jadhav of 24 MLI, the officer said.

He said that the injured soldier was taken to nearby hospital where from he was shifted to 166 army hospital Satwari Jammu for specialized treatment.

“Indian army is retaliating strongly and effectively in all these areas,” he said. (GNS)
