Poll fever grips JK as parties finalise probables for LS polls

Srinagar, March 9: Even as the susp ense over holding elections continues despite Election Commission of India (ECI) getting feedback from the police and all political parties of the State, Congress took a lead in announcing its probable candidates for the Parliamentary seats followed by PDP while National Conference claimed it was finalising the names of candidates.

Reliable sources told Kashmir In-depth that Congress will feild Tariq Hameed Qarra from Srinagar Parliamentary constituency, two names have been suggested from South Kashmir–Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed and Ghulam Ahmed Mir while Taj Mohiudin and Ghulam Nabi Monga and Saifudin Soz are the names suggested for north Kashmir Lok Sabha Seat.

For Jammu, Madan Lal Sharma and for Udhampur Vikramaditya Singh has been shortlisted. Sources said that polls will be held in April in phases.

Sources said that for Congress , senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad will be the chief campaigner for the Lok Sabha polls in J&K.

The PDP, sources said have started deliberations to zero in on the names to be fielded for upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Similarly, the National Conference is àlso.holding hectic parleys to finalise the candidates. “We are ready to contest and that we are waiting for the final announcement of ECI,” said NC General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar.

Meanwhile, ECI is likely to announce its decesion on holding polls in JK in a few days .

Sources however said that LoK Sabha will be held first and then Assembly polls.
