8 years on, work on Mendhar Mini Secretariat still incomplete

Poonch, Mar 22 : The work on the Rs 14 crore Mini Secretariat complex undertaken by Public Works Department (PWD) in 2011 in Mendhar is going on at snail’s pace.

The locals blame the incompetence of the concerned department and negligent attitude of the successive governments for the delay in completion of the complex. They also complain of step-motherly treatment by authorities.

The government must expedite the work on the Mini Secretariat keeping in view the problems we face, the people of the area told.

“Mendhar has been ignored on developmental front and is witnessing step-motherly treatment by the state government,” they said.

As per officials records, over Rs 7 crore has been spent on the construction work of the project.

The residents have appealed the authorities to get the work on the complex completed as early as possible.

Xen PWD Poonch, Surinder Singh when contacted by said that the construction work of the building was delayed due to lack of funds.

“The estimated cost of the building was 14 crore and out of it, only 7 corers were released. As soon as the remaining funds are released, the construction work will resume,” he said. (GNS)
