Will get ban on Jamaat and JKLF revoked if PDP comes to power: Mehbooba

Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti today said that the crackdown and NIA raids on Hurriyat leadership will not yield any results

She said such actions are being taken by the BJP in view of the parliament polls to create an impression across the country that the BJP led government has a harsh stand on Kashmir and the separatists.

“Seizing property of Geelani Sb, raids on Mirwaiz Umar Farooq are all a part of this poll game,” Mehbooba said.

Talking to reporters at Handwara, Mehbooba said that PDP’s efforts will be to revoke all these kinds of bans and harassment. She said democracy is a battle of ideas and one cannot prison or raid the ideas.

“We feel that this kind of policy will not work and such bans won’t bring anything,” she said.

Mehbooba said when PDP again attains power they will get all these kinds of actions and bans revoked. (KNS)
