NC Activist Shot At, Other Beaten To Pulp By Unknown Gunmen In Shopian Village

Srinagar, May 13 : A National Conference (NC) activist was injured after shot at by unidentified gunmen at Chitragam village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Monday late evening.

Reports reaching said that the gunmen entered into two houses and took away Sajad Ahmad Ganai (38) and Mushtaq Ahmad Ganai. While Sajad was fired upon in his right thigh, Mushtaq was set free after beating him to pulp.

The gunmen later left and in the meantime family members and neighbours reached the spot and removed Sajad to Sub-District hospital Zainapora.

Sources, however, said that Sajad was later referred to Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment.

A police officer also confirmed the incident and said that they have taken cognizance of the incident and further investigations launched in this regard.

Soon after the incident, the government forces launched searches in the area to nab the assailants. (GNS)
