Programme on drug abuse held

Srinagar, June 26: A program regarding International Day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking was organised by Department of Psychiatry,
G. M.C Srinagar in collaboration with
J&K State AIDS Control Society  at General Health Community Centre SMHS Hospital on Wednesday.
Prof Mohd. Maqbool head of department welcomed the guests and presented welcome address.
Principal GMC was the chief guest and Deputy Director Blood Transfusion Services,  JKSACS was guest of honor.
Principal GMC Dr Kaiser highlighted the role of society and religious teachings to eradicate the menace of Drug from the society.
Dr. Yasir Hassan gave  the presentation on  overview of substance abuse and highlighted its preventive measures.
Dr Sanjeet Kour stressed upon the rise in opioid use.
While as Lawyer CNC,  Syed Mujtaba highlighted the role of  criminal justice responses, social reintegration, the legal and societal stigma which continues to be associated with drug use and dependence.
On the occasion students of Bibi Haleema College of Nursing and Alamdar College  of Nursing IUST ,Ms Zoya Mphil student and Shabnam Rashid sr.  Nurse performed the activities with the theme of program drug abuse.
Dr Aaliya and Fatima Mphil student cordinated the program.
The program was concluded with a vote of thanks  by Javaid Jeelani,  Councellor OST IMHANS-k.
