Kupwara police targets drug dealings; 850 grams brown sugar recovered

Srinagar, July 04 : In its ongoing drive against drug menace, Police during a raid recovered contraband substance in Taad area of Karnah along the LoC in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday.

“Police along-with Executive Magistrate and respectable citizens on a specific information raided the house of one person Maqsood Ahmad Mir resident of Saidpora and recovered brown sugar,” a police spokesman said in a statement.

Officers have recovered about 850 grams of brown sugar approximately, he said.

A case FIR No. 29/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered and initiated investigation in the matter, he said.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighborhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, he said.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace, the spokesman added.
