SMC conducts demolition drive from Chanpora, adjoining areas

Srinagar, Jul 09 : Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Tuesday conducted a demolition drive from entire Chanpora, Natipora and its adjoining areas.

The drive was conducted under the supervision of Commissioner SMC Khurshid Ahmad Sanai who was accompanied by Chief Enforcement Officer (CEO) Mudasir Ahmed Banday, ward officers and the concerned officials.

According to officials, more than dozens of illegal constructions both commercial with the deviations and residential constructions were demolished during the drive.

“An anti-encroachment drive was also conducted in these areas. All the encroached spaces by shopkeepers in form of occupying public spaces by displaying their goods and by raising temporary structures were completely cleared off jointly by the anti encroachment and enforcement squad,” it said.

It added that people in general are requested to do away with the illegal constructions and obtain building permission before taking up any construction in hand said Commissioner SMC.
