Gunfight Rages In Awantipora Village

A gunfight between the government forces and militants has begun in Awantipora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday evening.

Reports reaching  said that following specific input about the presence of militants, a joint team of forces including Army, SOG Pulwama and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the Rajpora area of Awantipora.
Reports said the searches were started, however, as the forces personnel approached to the hiding spot, militants opened fire on them, triggering an encounter.
Meanwhile Police in a tweet also said that encounter has started in outskirts of Awantipora.
As per sources three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
