Srinagar police arrests two drug peddlers, contraband substance seized

January 24: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Srinagar arrested 02 drug peddlers and seized contraband substance from their possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established near Nowhatta Chowk intercepted  two persons riding on a motor cycle bearing registration number JK15-5866 identified as Bashir Ahmad Dar and Mohammad Umar Dar both residents of Hakabara Sumbal. 

During checking 400gms of Charas was recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Nowhatta where they remain in the custody.  Officers have also seized the motor cycle involved in the commission of offence.

A case FIR No. 04/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in police station Nowhatta Srinagar. Further investigation into the matter is in progress.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police has resolved to deal robustly with drug peddlers.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
