Srinagar, Feb 11: The poor drainage, dilapidated road is giving tough time to the people in Lal Bazar’s Umar Colony due to the failure of Roads and Buildings department and Srinagar Municipal Corporation here.

According to the inhabitants, the drainage passing in their area was blocked three months ago and it was restored by the locals.

Muzaffar Ahmad, a resident told that drain in our area is damaged and not wroth to be used. The regular blockage causes immense inconveniences to the people here, he said.

Ahmad said the main reason behind this dilapidated condition of road is due to due to failure of the drainage system.

The residents said last year R&B department came there for the macdamisation but some families who are suffering due to the poor drainage opposed.

Another resident Kaiser Ahmad said the 300 meter road is dotted with potholes and due to it bad condition, the drivers mostly three-wheelers avoid to ply on the route.

“The road is in shambles from past one year taking heavy toll on commuters especially elders who face problems during the rains,” Kaiser said.

The angry residents appealed R&B and Srinagar SMC to resolve the problem so that they have a sigh of relief.

However, an official at Chief Engineer Roads and Buildings office told that patches would be repaired soon as possible and macadmization will done in upcoming months.
