Chief Secretary greets people on Mahashivratri

Chief Secretary B.V.R Subrahmanyam has conveyed his heartiest greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Mahashivratri which is being popularly celebrated as Harith by Kashmiri Pandits across J&K.

In his message, Chief Secretary has observed that Mahashivratri, one of the prominent festivals of J&K symbolises movement towards truth, beauty, peace and benevolence. The devotees perform on this night poojas, meditate and chant Vedic mantras to bestow a sense of peace and oneness within and with the world. The devotees observe the festival with worship, fasting, enkindling the spirit of self-introspection, spiritual enlightenment and social harmony, which are the hallmark of the composite culture of J&K.

While extending his warm wishes, Chief Secretary prayed that the festival brings peace, prosperity and happiness for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
