Safina Baig joins National Conference

KINS Desk

Srinagar, July 8: Former District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson of Baramulla, Safina Baig, joined the National Conference (NC) on Wednesday at the party headquarters in Srinagar.
She joined the party in the presence of NC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Minister for Rural Development Javid Ahmad Dar, senior leader Ali Mohammad Sagar, Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan and other party leaders. A large number of her supporters also joined the event.
Safina Baig is the wife of senior politician and former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig.
Her joining is seen as a major boost for the National Conference in north Kashmir, particularly in Baramulla district, where the party won six of the seven Assembly seats in the 2024 elections.
Muzaffar Hussain Baig was a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and served as Deputy Chief Minister in the PDP-Congress government. He represented the Baramulla Assembly constituency after winning the 2002 and 2008 Assembly elections and was later elected as Member of Parliament from Baramulla in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
With Safina Baig joining the National Conference, the party is expected to further strengthen its organisation and public outreach in north Kashmir.
