Dr Aijaz Ahmad Wani appointed director KU’s south campus

Srinagar: Dr Aijaz Ahmad Wani has been appointed as new Director South Campus, University Of Kashmir. An order No. F(I/C Director-SC/Admn /TW/20 dated March 03, 2020, to this effect was issued at University on Tuesday.

Dr Aijaz an Associate Professor in the PG Department of Botany, University of Kashmir has earlier served as the Deputy Chief Proctor University of Kashmir, besides a member of several committees. He has done his M.Sc., PhD in Botany from Aligarh Muslim University and was appointed as a lecturer in the Department of Botany, the University of Kashmir in 2003.

Dr Wani has a teaching and research experience of 16 years at PG level. With specialization in Genetics and Breeding of crop plants, Dr Wani has more than 70 publications in National and International Journals. He has also published a book on Chromosome Structure and Aberrations published by Springer in 2016 besides several book chapters.

His significant contributions in the field of research are Development of Germplasm Repository and first Mapping Population of Apple in Jammu and Kashmir. Dr Wani is the recipient of distinguished scientist award for his contribution and achievements in the field of Cytogenetics and breeding from the Centre for Advanced Research and Design, Venus Internal Foundation in 2016.
