J&K to have first DG Health Services

Samir Mattu, Saleem ur Rehman eyeing on coveted post

Srinagar, Mar 17 (KINS): For the first time, Jammu and Kashmir will have Director General of Health Services to look overall monitoring of the health sector in the new Union Territory.

Official sources told Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) that a process has been initiated to appoint first ever Director General of Health Services in Jammu and Kashmir.

“He will supervise the overall working of Directorate of Health Kashmir and Jammu,” a top official said insisted not to be named.

The official said that the two directors of health in J&K will report to Director General.

“The health has been a top priority of the government and is the reason Director General is being appointed to supervise the overall health sector in the new Union Territory,” the official maintained.

The official said Union Territories in India have Director General Health who monitor the overall health sector.

“Incumbent Director Health Services Kashmir Dr Samir Mattu and former Director Health Services Kashmir Saleem ur Rehman are eying for the coveted post,” the official claimed.

Sources said appointment of Director General Services is being made under the new laws that have been implement post abrogation of Article 370. (KINS)
