Budgam Police arrests 06 drug peddlers

Huge quantity of psychotropic substances recovered

March 20:  Continuing its drive against drug dealings in Budgam, Police have arrested six drug peddlers and recovered psychotropic substances from their possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at Bandnur area of Magam intercepted six individuals identified as Mohd Rafiq Bhat resident of Shalteng HMT  Srinagar,  Noor Mohd Ganie, John Mohd Ganie both residents of Zainkote HMT Srinagar, Barkat Hussain Malik resident of  Bandnur, Rauf Ahmad Bhat resident of Yarigund and Mohd Arif Dar @ Arif Kantro resident of Chek Kawoosa . During search, officers were able to recover 3840 banned tablets and 105 codeine bottles from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Magam where they remain in custody.

Case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Magam. Further investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings.
