Police books 21 persons, 02 shopkeepers for defying Govt orders in Srinagar, Sopore and Kulgam; Seizes 25 vehicles


April 30: Acting tough against the violators of Government prohibitory orders, Police in a series of actions have arrested 23 persons including 02 shopkeepers in Srinagar, Sopore and Kulgam besides, arrested a butcher for selling meat at exorbitant rates. Police have also seized 25 vehicles for defying govt orders over COVID-19.

In the jurisdiction of PS Karanagar Srinagar, Police have arrested five persons and seized five vehicles for defying government orders. Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at PS Karanagar and further investigation into the cases has been initiated.

In the jurisdiction of PS Shaheed Gunj Srinagar, Police booked 02 shopkeepers for violating Govt orders issued with regard to prevention of spread of COVID-19 in the district.

Nine persons were arrested and five vehicles were seized in the jurisdiction of PS Sadder, Srinagar for defying Govt orders. Besides a butcher was also arrested in Chanapora area for selling meat at exorbitant rates. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at PS Sadder and further investigation into the cases has been initiated.

In Sopore, Police have seized 15 vehicles for violating Govt orders over COVID-19. Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and further investigation into the cases has been initiated.

Similarly in Kulgam, Police have arrested 07 persons for defying prohibitory orders over Coronavirus across the district. Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and further investigation into the cases has been initiated.

Police have once again requested the general public to follow the restrictions imposed by Government in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and those who are violating the restriction orders will be dealt strictly.“`
