Lt Governor extends Buddha Purnima greetings

Srinagar, May 06 (KINS): Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu has extended his greetings to the people of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima.

In his message of felicitations, the Lt Governor said that the holy occasion of Buddha Purnima is significant, especially for those following Buddhism, as the day commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and Nirvana of Lord Buddha, revered as the founder of Buddhism.

The Lt Governor described Lord Buddha as an apostle of peace, whose message of ahimsa and non-violence assumes much greater relevance today, and expressed hope that the blessed occasion would continue to promulgate the ideals of Lord Buddha and promote peace, happiness, and amity in the world.

He also prayed for the well-being of the people and wished that this auspicious occasion would augur peace, progress and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.(KINS)
