Police raid illegal sand extraction unit in Shopian arrest 27 persons, 26 vehicles seized

Srinagar, May 19 : Police on Tuesday arrest over two dozen persons for extracting sand illegally in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

In a statement issued to news agency reads, In its drive against sand mafia,Shopian Police on the intervening night of 18/19 May,2020 launched a massive drive in the District Shopian and seized 12 Tippers,13 Tractors,one Dossier and arrested 27 persons from Rambiara Nallah in Shopian,Keegam,Imam sahib and Zainapora areas and registered four FIRs in different Police stations of the District.

04 Tippers and 05 tractors were seized and 09 persons were arrested by Police Station Shopian where case FIR No 110/2020 U/S 431,188 IPC and 3 PPD Act was registered.

04 tippers,02 tractors and 01 JCB were seized and 08 persons were arrested by PP Keegam to which case FIR No 111/2020 U/S 188,431 IPC 3 PPD ACT stands registered in PS Shopian.

01 tipper and 5 tractors were seized and 6 persons arrested by Police Station Zainapora to which case FIR No 38/2020 U/S 431,188 IPC 3 PPD Act stands registered in PS Zainapora

03 tippers and01 tractor was seized and 04 persons arrested by Police Station Imam Sahib and registered case FIR No 42/2020 U/S431,188 IPC,3 PPD Act. Statement reads.
