Kansal reviews JKPDC working

Directs for synergizing efforts to complete projects at earliest

JAMMU, MAY 22: Principal Secretary, Power Development Department (PDD), Rohit Kansal  reviewed the functioning of Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (JKPDC) at a a meeting held here today.

Among others the meeting was attended by Executive Director (Electrical), Roheela Wani; Executive Director (Civil), Er Arun Kishore Sharma; Company Secretary, Sunil Gupta; Chief Engineer, Baglihar (Mech),  S K Thappa; Chief Engineer (Solar), Archana Gupta and Chief Engineer Baglihar (Electrical), Nasib Singh.

Director Finance, MS Malik; Chief General Manager (Law), Ishtiaq Ahmed Wani; GM (Hdryo), MH Teli and other officers attended the meeting through video conferencing from Kashmir division.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Secretary, who also hold the charge as Managing Director, JK Power Development Corporation Limited, directed the concerned authorities to synergize efforts with primary focus to finish the work on projects which are nearby completion so that more power is generated and un-interrupted power is supplied to consumers and to create revenue for infrastructural development of the Corporation.

During the meeting threadbare discussions were held on present status of various ongoing projects in Jammu and Kashmir, under construction and upcoming projects, projects under PMDP, projects under appraisal at Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and projects transferred to JKSPDC by JAKEDA.

The concerned officers gave detailed presentation reports and status of development of projects in Jammu and Kashmir.

Principal Secretary was informed that out of the identified potential, only 3608.46MW (22%of identified potential) has been exploited until now, which comprises 1211.96 MW in State sector, 2339 MW in Central sector and 57.5 MW in IPP mode (Independent Power Producers).

He was informed that with the installed capacity of 9 MW, Hanu (Indus) project is being executed through M/s P&R Engineering on EPC mode and the work would be completed by July 2020, besides installed capacity 48.00 MW Lower Kalnai (Chenab) and Parnai (Jehlam) installed capacity 37.50 MW.

Principal Secretary was also informed about the operational projects of JKPDC, NHPC, IPP and projects under construction of JKPDC, IPP & CVPPL. He was also briefed about major upcoming projects cleared by Central Electricity Authority/CWC for JKPDC about Sawalkote, Ujh and Ratle (Indus).
