Jammu, Feb 06 (KINS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday reviewed the overall security situation in Jammu and Kashmir during a high-level meeting with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and senior civil and police officials.
The meeting focused on strengthening the existing security grid and adopting innovative measures to further reinforce a watertight security cordon across sensitive and vulnerable areas of the Union Territory. The Home Minister took stock of counter-terrorism operations, border security, and internal security arrangements.
During the review, Amit Shah was informed that sustained efforts towards de-radicalisation have yielded significant results and have played a key role in advancing the government’s vision of a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir. He appreciated the work of security agencies in curbing terror activities and maintaining peace in the region.
The Home Minister stressed the need to further intensify youth engagement programmes to steer young people away from negative influences and integrate them into mainstream development.
Amit Shah also instructed officials to remain alert and proactive in dealing with emerging security challenges, and to ensure close coordination among all agencies. He reiterated the Centre’s commitment to maintaining peace, stability, and development in Jammu and Kashmir.
Senior officers from the police, intelligence agencies, and civil administration attended the meeting and presented detailed briefings on the prevailing security scenario and future preparedness.(KINS)
