2 corporations merged: Uncertainty over new posting of former MD J&KHDC

Srinagar, June 13 (KINS): Around three months have passed since the government approved merging of two corporations, uncertainty continues over new posting of one of the former Managing Directors of a corporation.

In March this year, the government approved merging of J&K Handicraft (S&E) Corporation and J&K Handloom Development Corporation into J&K Handloom (J&KHDC) and Handicrafts Marketing Corporation (JKHHMC).

The government recently appointed Hashmat Ali Yatoo as Managing Director Jammu and Kashmir Handloom and Handicrafts Marketing Corporation.

However, the government is undecided over the new posting of Rakesh Sharma, former Managing Director of J&K Handloom Development Corporation (J&KHDC).

“No decision has been taken over the posting of Sharma neither he has been attached with any department yet,” an official told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS).

The official claimed that there have been some complaints against Sharma related to alleged purchase of some products. “But the government should clear the air whether they want to give him any new posting,” the official said.

Rekesh Sharma also confirmed that he has not been given any new posting yet. “I am not aware about my new posting yet,” Sharma said, refuting reports about any complaint against him.

The official said the merging of two corporations was aimed at augmenting resources and manpower and bring synergy in the activities of the two sectors.

“The decision has been taken to address challenges like lack of brand image, bulk production capacity, checking fake products, absence of e-marketing and competition from machine and power-loom products,” another official said.

Showrooms of JK Industries have been transferred to the new corporation. There will be eight regional deputy directorates at Anantnag, Budgam, Baramulla and Bandipora in Kashmir and Kathua, Udhampur, Rajouri and Doda in Jammu division.(KINS)
