Mother-Daugher drowns in River Jehlum in South Kashmir

Srinagar, June 16(KINS): In a tragic incident, A mother-daughter drowned in river Jhelum in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday evening.


Reports reaching news agency KINS, said a 12-year-old girl identifies as Nighat was bathing in river Jhelum at Marhama village of Ananthnag where she slipped and drowned, however, to save her daughter her mother(40) identified as Saleema wife of Ghulam Hassan also drowned.


Reports said soon after the news spread in the area locals rushed to the spot and started rescue operation to retrieve the bodies of the mother-daughter duo.


Meanwhile, a police officer also confirmed this incident to news agency KINS and one body has been retrieved while efforts are on to retrieve the other body. (KINS)
