Youth given opportunity to shun the path of violence: DGP

Srinagar, 22 June(KINS): Congratulating the officers and cops of SOG Srinagar of J&K Police and CRPF valley QAT for conducting a clean and successful operation in a very congested and densely populated area Zadibal Srinagar yesterday, the Director General of Police J&K Dilbag Singh lauded the synergy and understanding between the forces in Jammu and Kashmir.

He was interacting with the officers and cops of Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF at Police Golf Course Srinagar who participated and successfully killed three militants who were involved in the attack of BSF party in Pandach area of Hazratbal on 20.05.2020 in which two BSF troopers were killed and militants managed to decamp with the service weapons of the BSF troopers. The militants involved were successfully killed and the weapon of the slain BSF personnel was recovered from their possession in the encounter yesterday.

The interaction was attended by the IGP CRPF Sector Srinagar Pramod Kumar Pandey, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, DIG CRPF South Doop Singh Maan, DIG CRPF North Davinder Jeet Singh, SSP Srinagar Dr Haseeb Mughul, SP PC (Cargo) Tahir Ashraf, SP Hazratbal Sudanshu Pandey, SP East Ms Seema Nabi and Srinagar based Commandants of CRPF.

During the interaction the DGP congratulated the officers and Jawans of Police and CRPF for conducting a clean and successful operation in a very congested and densely populated area of Zadibal Srinagar with no collateral damage. He appreciated the synergy, professionalism, alertness and patience displayed by the Police Component Srinagar (Cargo) and CRPF Valley QAT during various operations conducted and also for pro-active approach of security forces during evacuation of civilians and ensuring in minimizing the damage associated with the operation.

He said that the synergy and understanding between the different forces especially Police and CRPF have yielded good results a number of times and added that in future too the success will be ours. He said that the handling of law & order during the operation and post operation is praiseworthy and commended the officers of Police and CRPF for that.

The DGP said that during operation restraining emotions and actions is very challenging but the forces on ground in Jammu & Kashmir have shown exemplary control on their actions many times in the past. He said that in this operation too, the officers have taken every chance to make the militant surrender. He said that repeated appeals were made by the Police, family members and community members to the militnats to surrender and shun the path of violence.

The DGP said that our commitment is to provide a peaceful atmosphere for the people of J&K, and added that youth of Jammu and Kashmir lured by the Pakistan sponsored militant outfits and their supporters have always been given an opportunity to shun the path of violence and live a peaceful life with their loved ones.

The DGP exhorted upon the officers and Jawans to be extra vigilant and careful as the elements inimical to peace and the militant handlers across the border are anxious to disturb the peace and order in the Union Territory. He stressed on the necessity to keep Srinagar city free from the militancy and also emphasized to work on the networks associated with militant modules operating in other regions of Kashmir having linkages to Srinagar.

The DGP announced and distributed rewards among the cops of J&K Police and CRPF valley QAT for their exemplary performance and professionalism. He further emphasized and instructed the men and officers to adhere to SOPs issued from time to time, while handling law and order.(KINS)
