Kunjwani P-Post set up for public safety: Police Deptt

JAMMU, JULY 20: Police authorities today said that the police post at Kunjwani Chowk along with the SOG has been set for the safety of general public as it act as a checkpoint for vehicles and suspicious people.

Responding to a news article appearing in a section of press, the Police department assured that the matter regarding the removal of road dividers between the National Highway and Service lane   by the locals for their convenience would be taken up with the NHAI for a feasible solution.

“Generally there are no trucks parked on the service lane at night with the drivers and conductors relieving themselves, etc but there are vehicles of Employees/Customers parked outside the various showrooms like Peaks/Renault/True Value, etc. for these instructions shall be passed on to the Owner/Manager of the respective shops/ Showrooms to create parking facility inside their premises” the department clarified further.

However, the department said that there is not a single case of parked vehicle with the occupants drinking liquor, etc as special checks are being regularly made by the foot patrolling party, flying vehicle, highway Patrol vehicle of Police.

It further refuted that there  is no case of bike zipping past without silencers causing noise pollution as special/surprise checking, surveillance is being conducted on regular basis. Moreover the violators are being strictly dealt and punished under MV Act, it added.

While further refuting the allegations, the department  said that Jammu police is performing it’s duty 24*7, without any break, busy in maintaining law and order, along with the additional pressure of COVID -19. Officers of the rank of SP visit this post on daily basis to look after jawans and ensure better services to people.
