Chief Secretary greets people on Gandhi Jayanti

SRINAGAR, OCT 1, (KINS): The Chief Secretary, B V R Subrahmanyam, today extended greetings to the people on the 151st birth anniversary of father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
In his message on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, the Chief Secretary said that the ideology of Gandhism emphasizes on self-reliance to be achieved through self rule. “Taking inspiration from his preaching, the concept of back to village has been developed and is beginning from today as a mark of respect to the inspirational leader”, he added.
Urging the Gram Panchayats to enthusiastically participate in B2V3, the Chief Secretary said that the achievements made under the recently concluded Jan Abhiyan / Awami Muhim will be evaluated by the visiting officers who are mandated with the task to assess the needs and requirements of the Gram Panchayats towards developing them into a truly empowered local self-governance model.
Keeping in view the COVID-19 pandemic situation, the Chief Secretary urged people to adopt COVID safe behavior based on mask-wearing, social distancing, and hand hygiene.(KINS)
