Food Safety Deptt says, ’94 food business operators booked for not obtaining registration certificate under Food Safety & Standard Act’

Srinagar, Oct 21 (KINS): Food safety department Wednesday said that 94 cases have been filed in the competent court against those Food Business operators who were found running their business without obtaining registration certificate.

The department in a press release issued to news agency KINS said that to bring the Food Businesses within the ambit of Food Licensing and Registration system a special drive has been initiated in District Srinagar. “During the first two days of drive, Moreover a butcher shop at Qamarwari found violating sanitary and hygienic requirements has been sealed. Commissioner Food & Drugs Administration Shakeel-ul -Rehman has directed all Food Business operators of J &K to obtain licence /Registration otherwise action under relevant provisions of Food Safety & Standard Act shall be initiated against them,” the statement reads.

It is pertinent to mention that Food Business operators having turnover upto 12 lac need to obtain Registration certificate and those having turnover above than that shall obtain License. Licensing/Registration is an online system and can be accessed at https://foodlicensing.fssai.gov.in.(KINS)
