Omar, Mehbooba, Bukhari condemn killing of goldsmith in Srinagar

Srinagar, Jan 01 (KINS): Former chief ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti on Friday condemned the killing of a goldsmith by unidentified gunmen in the summer capital, Srinagar on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari also condemned the killing of Satpal Nischal, owner of Nischal Jewelers, who was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Srinagar on Thursday evening.
“Very unfortunate. There can be no justification for this kind of violence. May the soul of the departed rest in peace & may his family find strength at this difficult time,” Mr Abdullah, who is the vice-president of National Conference (NC), wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
Reacting to the killing, Ms Mehbooba, who is the president of PDP, said violence has no place in a civilized society. “Condemn the gruesome killing of an innocent man in Srinagar yesterday. Violence has no place in a civilised society. Deepest condolences to the bereaved family,” Ms Mehbooba tweeted.
In a statement issued here, Bukhari termed the incident gruesome and demanded that the culprits be booked and given a stern punishment as warranted under law. “Such inhuman and barbaric incidents are abhorred and unacceptable to any civilized society in the world and the same should be condemned by one and all,” he remarked.
Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, Bukhari prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and courage to his family, relatives and friends to bear this irreparable loss.(KINS)
