Banned wild-animal skin & other parts recovered in Anantnag; One arrested

January 30: On a specific information provided by Wild Life Crime Control Bureau, New Delhi (WLCCB) a team of Anantnag Police, CRPF 40 Bn and Wildlife officials of the Forest Department, raided the Shirpora area of Anantnag and recovered a large quantity of contraband wildlife products including eight leopard skins, four musk deer pods and 38 bear gall bladders.

A case vide FIR no. 16/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Anantnag and all the banned items so recovered stands seized. Further investigations are going on.

One person identified Gul Mohammad Ganai resident of Shirpora Anantnag has been arrested in the case.

Significantly, a large quantity of contraband wildlife items have been recovered in Jammu, as well, as part of the same operation.
