‘Dastardly’, ‘cowardly’: Former J&K CMs Mehbooba Mufti, Omar Abdullah condemn attack on SPO Fayaz Ahmad

Srinagar: Former chief minister and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah condemned the killing of police officer Fayaz Ahmad and said that no words are strong enough to condemn the ‘cowardly attack’. Ahmad, his wife and his daughter were killed by miltants  in Awantipora on Sunday night.

“No words are strong enough to condemn the cowardly attack in Awantipora that claimed the lives of a JKP officer Fayaz Ahmad, his wife & daughter. May Allah Ta’aala grant them maghfirat & their loved ones the fortitude to bear this loss (sic),” Mufti said in a tweet.

 

Former Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah also took to Twitter and said – “I unreservedly condemn the dastardly & cowardly militant attack on the J&K police SPO Fayaz Ahmed, his wife & his young daughter at their home last night. I pray they receive their place in Jannat & their loved ones find strength during this terrible time.”

A series of attacks against police, security establishments in J&K. As reported earlier, the militants barged into Ahmad’s residence in Awantipora at 11 pm on Sunday and opened fire on the family. Ahmad succumbed to injuries at the hospital on Sunday, his wife Raja Begum and daughter Rafia also died later. The horrific incident comes days after terrorists killed an inspector and a constable in Nowgam and Srinagar. A civilian died in a grenade attack in the Barbarshah area of the city.

The incident also came after two consecutive explosions took place at the Jammu Air Force station in the early hours of Sunday.
