Srinagar, Jul 6 (KINS) Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh sanctioned Rs 7.30 lakhs meritorious scholarship in favour of wards of Jammu and Kashmir police personnel, a police spokesman said Tuesday afternoon.
He said with an aim to inculcate competitive spirit among the wards of J&K Police personnel, Police Headquarters is running scholarship schemes meant for the wards of police personnel who are academically meritorious.
Taking this endeavour further, the DGP Mr Singh has sanctioned meritorious scholarships in favour of 147 wards of serving Police personnel.
He said Rs 7.30 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of 147 wards who have excelled in the annual examination of class 10th during the academic session 2020-21. The amount has been sanctioned out of the Central Police Welfare Fund.
He said 71 wards who have secured 90 per cent and above marks have been given meritorious scholarship of Rs 6000 each. Similarly, 76 wards who have secured 80 per cent and above marks have been rewarded with the meritorious scholarship of Rs 4000 each.
Police Headquarters has been sanctioning meritorious scholarships/scholarship, and DGPs special reward for the wards of martyr, deceased, and serving Police personnel and Special Police Officers (SPOs) for their academic achievements and also for assisting financially the wards of martyr and deceased lower subordinates.(KINS)
