DC Shopian reviews Eid-ul Adha arrangements

SHOPIAN, JULY 14( KINS): : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today convened a meeting of District Officers at Mini Secretariat Arhama, here to review the arrangements for ensuing Eid-ul-Adha festivity.

During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held regarding arrangements to be put in place by the concerned departments including availability of essentials including Ration, Oil, LPG, Transport arrangements and renovation of roads.

The DC exhorted upon the officers of KDCL and Jal Shakti departments to ensure and provide uninterrupted power and drinking water supply to the people on the festive occasion. He instructed the Chief Executive Officer of Municipal Committee Shopian to ensure proper cleanliness, sanitation and illumination around the centrally located Masjids, Eid Gahs and Ziyarat Shareefs besides ensuring cleanliness and installation of lights at the places of congregation.

Emergency Services Departments were asked to keep Fire tenders ready at vulnerable places especially in the town to face any eventuality. The DC directed Animal Husbandry Departments to keep poultry birds available at discount rates at all sale centres particularly at Jamia Masjid and Bus Stop Batapora.

Further directions were also passed to intensify market checking to keep a check on profiteering, Hoarding and Black marketing. He directed the Officers of Municipal Committee, CAPD, Legal Metrology, Food and Drug control and Police Departments to ensure that products are sold strictly in accordance with the government notified rates.

DC directed the Engineers of R&B department to ensure patching works of local roads and streets leading to Eid Gahs and other Ziyarat Shareefs.

The Chair was informed that sufficient stock of essential commodities of Rice, Sugar, K-OIL and LPG are available in the district.

In view of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the DC appealed general public to adhere to SOPs and other guidelines including wearing of masks, avoiding gatherings especially in and around the masjids, Ziyarat shareefs, Eidgahs and market places besides, maintain Social distancing, hand washing and Sanitization in letter and spirit.

The meeting was attended by ADC Shopian, ACR Shopian, AD FCS&CA, Tehsildars, Officers of PHE and R&B, Municipal Committee, Traffic Police, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Health and Transport besides other concerned Officers and officials. ( KINS):
