RAMBAN, JULY 15(KINS):: Zakir Hussain – a teacher by profession has worked as a navigator in the District Level Corona Control Room at Ramban and other Covid management entities and emerged as a winner and a real Corona warrior. He has been managing the functioning of the Control Room efficiently since it was established last year after the advent of Covid-19 pandemic.

He fought the battle against Corona with determination, zeal and dedication, rendered his services round the clock and achieved excellent results in all duties assigned to him by the District Administration.

Zakir is a dedicated teacher in the Education Department, residing at Govind Pura Maitra area of highway town Ramban.

Sharing his journey from a teacher to Corona warrior, Zakir said his passion to serve humanity encouraged him to take this challenge. “Like teaching in the classroom, I resolved to give my best when the district administration sought my services amid the crisis never seen before,” he added.

During the pandemic, he remained available and never missed any call from the COVID-19 patients or victims. He often visited the quarantine centers to attend the assigned duties.

Zakir was also tested positive during the corona duty in October 2020, but resumed his task immediately after recovery. “I never proceeded on leave when deployed for Covid duty during both surges and completed the assignments given by the District Disaster Management Authority even on the day of Eid,” he said with great satisfaction.

Explaining the nature of Covid duty, he said “I successfully coordinated the arrangements of quarantine and testing facilities for over six thousand migrant laborers and travellers.” He also assisted the Labour Department in making arrangements for sending back the migrant laborers including their transportation, boarding and lodging in quarantine centres and other aspects in a transparent manner during the first surge of COVID-19 pandemic.

He thanked the Administration for reposing faith in his working ability and appealed to others to work with dedication. “I always feel proud that I worked to the full satisfaction of all the Deputy Commissioners and other senior officers under whom I worked, ” said Zakir.

He made a clarion appeal to the people to show respect and passion towards the Doctors, Nurses, Policemen, Ambulance drivers and other employees deputed on Covid duties, who work day and night when everybody is sitting home. “We can   help these Corona warriors in preventing fresh surge by adopting Covid appropriate behaviour and taking vaccine” he said.
