DC Shopian reviews rolling out of Mission Youth

SHOPIAN, JULY 24 (KINS): The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today reviewed the roll out of Mission Youth in the district during a meeting convened at Mini Secretariat, Arhama here.   Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that OUT of J&K is bestowed with a predominantly young population which is a valuable human resource which must be put to constructive engagement. Mission Youth is the apex body of the government for youth engagement and outreach in J&K, he added.

He said that the core agenda of Mission Youth is to positively engage youth for their overall well being within the society by making them stakeholders in the development of the Union Territory.

The DC further said that the programme is conceived with an objective to facilitate the engagement of youth in sustainable socio-economic development of J&K; to help young people to realize their full social, economic and human potential, to foster the social integration of youth within communities and enhance youth employability, contribution to effective delivery of basic services to the people of J&K in the times of distrust, natural calamities, pandemics, to set up micro youth clubs for youth engagement at Panchayat level.

He added that the role of Volunteer Groups shall be to create awareness among general masses, to combat misinformation and sensitization of communities regarding important social/ economic/ political matters by interacting with communities and by using innovative means, to provide assistance to departments in data gathering and to assist local administration to identify vulnerable areas for creating better targeted responses, to work for community mobilization and targeted response under various government schemes, initiatives, developmental activities and other government functions etc.

On the occasion, Sachin exhorted the officers to activate all field men and machinery for getting more people above 18 years of age group vaccinated and also speed up the process to complete the requisite target in a time bound manner.

He directed for ensuring vaccination of 2500 to 3000 people on a daily basis so that no one is left out on this behalf. He also stressed for increasing the issuance of Sehat Card process and quick service delivery of domicile certificates to facilitate the people of the Shopian district.

Threadbare discussion was also held in the meeting for providing better road connectivity, internet facility, portable drinking water facility and uninterrupted power supply to the far off and downtrodden people of the district.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmed Simnani, SDM Zainapora, ACD, CPO, Tehsildars, YSSO, BDOs and other concerned were present in the meeting. (KINS)
