Nomadic Survey nears completion at Shopian: Joint Director (P&S)

SHOPIAN, JULY 28 (KINS ): The Joint Director Planning and Statistics, Shopian, Khurshid Ahmed Khatana today said that the first-ever survey and enumeration process aimed to extend the benefits of various welfare schemes to migratory/ tribal population of Shopian, is nearing completion in the district.

The Joint Director said that the survey of more than 4009 households (families) has been completed and all the concerned workers put in extra efforts to achieve the required target in a time-bound manner.

He said that the comprehensive survey of both the nomadic population and various underdeveloped tribal pockets in the district is being conducted so that no one is left.

The Joint Director said that the objective of survey is to collect the real time data regarding migratory population so that various problems faced by them are identified besides to know the socio-economic status of migratory/nomadic population to enable the government to extend the benefits of various developmental, welfare, and livelihood oriented programmes to them and to initiate the measures for strengthening migratory schools, establishment of hostels, new residential schools etc. (KINS )
