J&K DGP sanctions Rs 1.18 cr ex-gratia relief for NoKs of PP, SPOs

Srinagar, Aug 3 (KINS): An amount of Rs 1.18 crore special welfare fund and ex-gratia relief has been sanctioned in favour of Next of Kin (NoK) of martyred and deceased Police Personnel (PP) and Special Police Officers (SPOs) in Jammu and Kashmir.

A police spokesman said Tuesday evening that continuing with endeavour to provide financial assistance to the families of the martyred and deceased PP and SPOs, the Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh sanctioned Rs 90 lakh  as Special Welfare Relief (SWR).  Rs 38 lakh ex-gratia relief in favour of dependents an legal heirs of martyred, deceased PP and SPOs.

The DGP has sanctioned Rs 38 lakh ex-gratia relief      in favour of NoKs of Selection Grade (SgCt)  Manzoor Ahmad  who attained martyrdom in a militant attack at Natipora  Srinagar.

The SER of Rs 20 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents and legal heirs of deceased personnel ASI Bashir Ahmad, HCs Chain Singh, Peer Riyaz Ahmad and Constable Kamal Kumar who expired during service due to health-related issues.

The DGP has also sanctioned Rs 5 lakh each in favour of NoKs of martyred SPO Fayaz Ahmad who attained martyrdom in a militant attack and SPO Mohammad Taj who expired due to illness, during the course of their engagement with the department.

Out of this amount (SWR) Rs one lakh each was already paid to the families and NoKs for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the Police Headquarters through their concerned units and Districts. The financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Police Welfare Fund.

Police Headquarters is running many schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families. There are also schemes for the wards of Police personnel and SPOs. Besides, there are schemes for the NoKs of martyrs, their wards and also for the retired Police personnel and their spouses.
