Advisor Farooq reviews arrangements for Muharram  in Jammu

JAMMU, AUGUST 05( KINS ): Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, today reviewed arrangements being put in place for Muharram in districts of Jammu division here at a meeting held at Divisional Commissioner office.

The meeting was attended by ADGP Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Anshul Garg, SSP Jammu, SSP Traffic, Director FCS&CA, Chief Engineers of PHE and JPDCL, Joint Director, Information Namrita Dogra besides senior officers of line departments while Deputy Commissioner Samba, Ramban and Poonch along with other concerned officers besides representatives of religious communities and senior functionaries of other concerned departments participated virtually.

Threadbare discussion was held on sanitation, security, traffic management, water and power supply besides other necessary arrangements for smooth celebration of the religious event.

During the meeting, Advisor took stock of all arrangements being put in place for Muharram and was informed that administrations had several meetings with representatives from the Shia community and concerned departments. He was apprised that all the concerned departments have already been directed for smooth conduct of all the remembrance functions and procession related to Muharram.

The representatives from Shia federation put forth their requirements before the Advisor and also apprised him of the programmes scheduled for Muharram.

Advisor directed the concerned departments to ensure uninterrupted power and drinking water supply besides conducting regular sanitation drives during the Muharram days. He directed JMC to ensure cleanliness around the Imambaras besides replacing damaged street lights. He also directed all Deputy Commissioners to hold review meetings in their respective districts regarding the event.

Advisor urged upon the religious organizations and leaders to follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour and restrict the gatherings according to the guidelines issued by the government.

The religious organizations expressed full cooperation towards ensuring that all preventive protocols and SOPs would be followed during Muharram days to contain spread of Covid-19. (KINS )
